Riot police moved in to break up pro-Palestinian protests at the University of Amsterdam on Monday. Students and employees earlier walked out in protest at Israel’s war in Gaza, and called for the university to cut academic ties with Israel. Police in riot gear, some with dogs and armed with batons, attempted to break up the protest. The university had requested police intervention after reporting trespassing and vandalism. Inside the university, students set up tents and built barricades with office furniture. Similar protests took place at other Dutch universities
