Hundreds of civilians were evacuated from the border areas of the Kharkiv region on Monday amid Russian airstrikes. Police officers helped to remove residents from the Tsyrkunivska, Lipetska and Vovchansk communities. Some of the fiercest fighting has been occurring on the outskirts of the Ukrainian town of Vovchansk, which before the war had a population of 17,000. Ukrainian and Russian reports confirmed that Russian troops had advanced into the vicinity, where gunfire has been reported in industrial areas
