France’s prime minister, François Bayrou, launched a verbal attack on the US president in the French parliament on Monday, saying Donald Trump’s meeting with Zelenskyy in the White House, which descended into a bitter argument, was ‘marked by brutality, a desire to humiliate’. Bayrou told members of the French national assembly: ‘To summarise it in one sentence, as it was in front of cameras from all over the world: either you reach a deal with [Russian president Vladimir] Putin, or we give up on you’
